ARTICLE WRITING: IT’S NOT AS DIFFICULT AS YOU MIGHT THINK!

Chances are, if you are reading this, you have a website or you’re thinking about starting one. If that is the case, then you undoubtedly have been bombarded with people telling you that writing articles is the key to successful marketing. However, unless you are a professional writer, writing a good article may seem as unattainable as finding that pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

You may not be able to find the end of the rainbow, but if you follow the steps listed below, you can be well on your way to writing a good, effective article that will enhance your business.

Before you even begin to write, you must first choose a topic. Be certain to stick with that particular topic. Don’t wander into other areas, either related or unrelated. Whether you decide to write on marketing, business tips, fashion advice, or travel, be sure that you know your topic well. Research your topic often and this will ensure that you are up-to-date on the latest news and trends and you can impart this to your readers. You don’t want to make the deadly mistake of sounding unprofessional in that you are not giving the latest advice on your particular topic.

Secondly, make a list. Many successful articles use lists. Others, such as the one you are reading now, are lists of successful tips. Most readers look at articles to increase their knowledge of a particular subject in a timely manner. It is very important for the writer not to drag on and on about the subject. Stay focused.

Third, set aside a time each week that is devoted only to writing articles. Make yourself focus on the task at hand and dive right into writing that elusive article. The longer you put it off, the less likely you will be to take the time to do it. If you should feel a sudden onset of writer’s block, take a deep breath and relax. Nothing could be more normal. Simply start writing down the first things that come to your mind, just to get your thoughts flowing. Soon enough, you will find the words to say exactly what you are thinking.

Overall, remember that article writing doesn’t have to be a burdensome task. If you know your business well, then you have plenty of valuable information to share with your readers. Once your article is completed, have someone else read it, just to get an outsider’s point of view.

You may not find that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but most certainly you can find your way to writing a successful article. Now, go to your desk, pick up that pen, put it to paper and write! Show yourself what you can do.
